What kind of metal do you use in your Alpacalets®?
We use a few different high-quality metals in our clasps and slides. Here’s a breakdown so you know exactly what you’re wearing:
- Magnetic Clasps
Every clasp we use contains a magnet. If you have medical devices or conditions that prevent you from wearing magnets, you should not wear our bracelets or necklaces. - Brass Clasps
Our brass clasps are made from 100% solid brass. Brass is a copper-based alloy, so those with metal sensitivities should be aware it may cause a reaction for some wearers. - Zinc Alloy (on Double Brass Bracelets Only)
The slides used on our brass double bracelets are made of nickel-free zinc alloy. They do contain copper, which means natural oxidation (darkening or patina) may occur over time. - 18K Gold Plated Stainless Steel
Some clasps are stainless steel plated with 18K gold for a warm, durable finish. - Stainless Steel
We also use regular stainless steel clasps that are durable, hypoallergenic, and resistant to rust. Some are also tarnish resistant (specified in listing).
